Shining Sea Returns to Woodstock

by

Martha Frankel, host of Woodstock Booktalk Radio, runs one of my favorite book radio shows, and I was delighted to be on to talk about my “classically American novel, really beautiful, spot on,” as she described Shining Sea. We discussed the book’s original title, how Woodstock appears in the novel, why I chose to make a male character the subject of sexual victimization, how come I wrote an epic novel only 276 pages long, the trials of researching Irish fishing boats and Scottish tidal races, and much more. (I talked a lot…)

To listen for yourself, look here. My interview starts 30 minutes in.

Woodstock Booktalk Radio shows are available on podcast. You don’t have to have read the book under discussion or even be thinking about reading it to find Martha’s interviews interesting.
